The Champaign County Balloon Fest takes place on July 10-12 at Grimes Field. Events planned include "Meet the Pilots" and a visit from Buckeyeman on Friday evening, jazz music, a hot dog eating contest, cornhole tournament and the Balloon Glow on Saturday evening. "Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World", a national traveling exhibition, which looks at the remarkable life and achievements of one of America's most beloved personalities, opens on Friday, August 28, 2009 at Urbana University. This exhibition is brought to you by The Benjamin Franklin Tercentenary, Philadelphia, and the American Library Association with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. The Urbana University Swedenborg Memorial Library is offering free programs and other events for the public in connection with the six-week exhibition. "Explore your Simon Kenton Trail". Join the Simon Kenton Pathfinders for a casual bike ride every Sunday Evening starting May 3. Take a family friendly ride on the trail with a casual pace, ride as long as you like (up to 12 miles). The ride leaves from Urbana Station Depot on Miami Street at 6:30 pm (weather permitting; cancelled if raining).
